Terminal 2 Minneapolis Airport Guide: Map, Check-In, Security and Transport

Terminal 2 at MSP is also called the Humphrey terminal. The useful mental map is simple: start on Level 1 for airline check-in and checked bags, move to Level 2 for TSA screening, then follow airport signs to your gate. Outside the terminal, the Orange and Purple parking ramps are important landmarks for rail, rideshare and checkpoint access.

Open MSP Airport’s official Terminal Information page and select its Terminal 2 map before traveling. Save it offline so it remains available if mobile service is weak. Printed maps are also available at airport information desks.

MSP warns that Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 use separate roadways. Confirm the terminal shown by your airline before setting out; choosing the wrong roadway creates an avoidable terminal transfer.

Which airlines are at MSP Terminal 2?

MSP Airport lists Frontier, Icelandair, Southwest and Sun Country at Terminal 2. Airline assignments can change, so check both the airport’s official terminal page and your airline’s current flight details before flying.

Check-in, bags and security

For a ticket, boarding pass or checked bag, use the Ticketing Lobby on Level 1. MSP notes that some carriers may offer curbside check-in, but directs travelers to contact the airline for availability and hours.

After check-in, go to Level 2. MSP Airport says Terminal 2 has two TSA checkpoints near the Orange and Purple ramp skyways. Checkpoint 1 operates from 4:00 a.m. until the last scheduled departure. Checkpoint 2 operates from 4:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and is limited to TSA PreCheck, MSP RESERVE and Priority members.

MSP recommends arriving two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before international travel. These are airport recommendations intended to leave time for bag check, screening and reaching the gate, not promises about the live queue.

TSA carry-on liquids

The TSA 3-1-1 liquids rule allows a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in carry-on baggage, with each container limited to 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters. TSA says larger containers should go in checked baggage unless an exemption applies.

How to get to Terminal 2

1. Confirm Terminal 2. Check that your airline and current flight information point to Terminal 2, not Terminal 1.
2. Use the correct address. Navigate to 7150 Humphrey Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55450.
3. Follow Terminal 2 signs. MSP’s driving directions route vehicles through the 34th Avenue exit area from the approaches it publishes.
4. Save the official map. Mark Level 1 ticketing, Level 2 security and the correct Orange or Purple ramp connection.

Getting between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2

Use the METRO Blue Line light rail for an inter-terminal transfer. MSP Airport says no ticket is needed and there is no charge for rail service between its terminals. At Terminal 2, the station is on the north side of the Orange Ramp. From Level 1 near Ticketing, go up to the Orange Ramp skyway, follow the rail signs, then descend to the platform.

MSP also provides a complimentary shuttle as an alternative for passengers with mobility challenges and other special needs. At Terminal 2, that shuttle serves Level 1 of the Purple Ramp.

Pickup, rideshare and parking landmarks

For Uber, Lyft or another app-based ride, MSP directs passengers to the second level of the Purple parking ramp. Confirm the vehicle’s license plate and have the driver say your name before entering, following the airport’s safety guidance.

The airport describes two covered ramps at Terminal 2 and identifies Hourly parking for shorter stays and Value parking for longer ones. Because availability, rates and construction conditions can change, check the official airport parking page shortly before travel.

A practical departure checklist

• Confirm Terminal 2 with the operating airline.
• Save the boarding pass and official Terminal 2 map offline.
• Use Level 1 for airline check-in or checked baggage.
• Go to Level 2 for security and follow signs for the eligible checkpoint.
• Use Orange Ramp signs for light rail or Purple Ramp signs for app-based ride pickup.
