Airport parking prices are posted by each airport operator and billed by the hour or a daily maximum. Los Angeles World Airports lists a $60 drive-up maximum per 24-hour period in Central Terminal Area general parking. San Francisco International Airport lists $4 per 30 minutes with a $39 max per 24 hours in the Domestic Garage. DFW International Airport lists $32.00 for 6 - 24 hrs in terminal parking. Confirm posted rates before you enter.

Key facts

Airport parking prices are not a single national fee. Each airport operator posts its own hourly slices and daily maxima, and those figures change. Read the official lot page, then confirm the rate on the sign at the entrance before you take a ticket.

What airport parking prices include

Operators usually charge in minutes or hours up to a 24-hour cap. Tax treatment is not the same everywhere:

That is why an MSP daily maximum of $30 (tax excluded) is not the same product as a $30-looking rate at another hub until you know whether tax is already in the number.

Posted daily maxima at four large US airports

These are drive-up figures from the operator pages, not a national average. Prebook products can be lower.

DFWTerminal parking$32.00 for 6 - 24 hrs
DFWRemote parking$14.00 for 6 -24 hrs
MSPTerminal 1 daily ramps$30 daily maximum (tax excluded)

SFO Long-Term parking is connected to terminals by AirTrain. AirTrain service runs 24 hours a day, with station departures as frequent as every 4 minutes. DFW remote lots use shuttle-to-gate service. Know which terminal you are using before you pick a garage — see how to navigate an airport.

Hourly slices vs the daily cap

If you are only picking someone up, the first hour can cost more than a distant daily lot for a week. If you are overnighting, the daily maximum is the number that matters.

How to pay less without guessing

  1. Open the airport’s own parking page — not a third-party “cheap parking” list. LAX, SFO, DFW and MSP each publish current products there.
  2. Compare terminal vs economy/remote. At DFW, remote is $14.00 for 6 -24 hrs versus $32.00 for terminal. At SFO, Long-Term is $27 max per 24 hours versus $39 in the Domestic Garage. At LAX, Budget is $20 maximum versus $60 in CTA general.
  3. Prebook when the operator says it is cheaper. DFW advertises save up to 50% off when you prebook. LAX lists savings up to 60% off drive up rates for reserved parking. SFO says its lowest rates are only available through the online booking system. MSP says prebook at least 12 hours before you travel and the space is guaranteed.
  4. Use a cell-phone lot for curbside pickup. LAX has two cell-phone waiting lots where motorists meeting arriving passengers can wait for free, up to two hours, until passengers are ready in the Central Terminal Area.

Online bookings at SFO can be changed or cancelled up to 2 hours before the booked entry time. LAX says you can cancel a reservation 2 hours prior to arrival for a full refund.

Cash, cards, and how long the car can stay

DFW International Airport uses contactless payment and does not accept cash. Parking at DFW Airport is limited to 90 days; vehicles parked longer are towed off-airport.

LAX accepts cash at pay-on-foot machines, plus major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and debit cards. Vehicles parked for over 30 days are subject to impound. CTA parking structures are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.

MSP daily ramps use the same credit or debit card to enter and exit if you do not have a reservation. Rates on that page are tax excluded.

Parking products, shuttle rules and posted prices change. Confirm the lot and the rate on the official airport page and the entrance sign on the day you travel — including when you are on a first-time flight or heading to airport security screening after you leave the car.
