How much is parking at airport? The number on the operator’s rate board for the lot you enter — not a national average, and not a third-party “cheap parking” roundup.

What you pay is the airport’s posted product

Airport operators bill by the minute or hour up to a 24-hour cap. Tax treatment differs:

• Los Angeles World Airports (LAX) — fees include 10% Los Angeles City Parking Occupancy Tax.
• San Francisco International Airport (SFO) — stall rates include all taxes and fees.
• MSP Airport — daily-ramp rates on the official page are tax excluded.

So a $30 MSP daily maximum (tax excluded) is not the same product as a $30-looking rate elsewhere until you know whether tax is already in the number.

Hourly slices vs the daily cap

For a short pickup, the first hour can cost more than you expect. For an overnight trip, the daily maximum is the number that matters.

• LAX CTA general: 10 minutes free; $9 first hour ($11 in P3 and P4); $7 each 30 minutes after ($9 in P3 and P4); $60 maximum per 24-hour period. Premium lists $70 maximum; valet lists $75 maximum with a 24-hour minimum.
• SFO Domestic Garage: $4 per 30 minutes, $39 max per 24 hours. No vehicles over 6' 6".
• DFW terminal: 0–8 mins $9.00; 8–30 mins $2.00; 30 mins–2 hrs $3.00; 2–4 hrs $10.00; 4–6 hrs $12.00; 6–24 hrs $32.00.
• MSP Terminal 1 daily ramps: first hour $5; each additional hour $3; daily maximum $30 (tax excluded).

How to find how much parking is at your airport

1. Open the airport’s own parking page — LAX, SFO, DFW and MSP each publish current products there. Skip aggregator roundups for the posted rate.
2. Compare terminal vs economy or remote. At DFW, remote is $14.00 for 6–24 hrs versus $32.00 for terminal. At SFO, Long-Term is $27 max versus $39 in the Domestic Garage. At LAX, Budget is $20 maximum versus $60 in CTA general.
3. Prebook when the operator discounts it. DFW advertises save up to 50% off when you prebook. LAX lists savings up to 60% off drive-up rates for reserved parking. SFO says its lowest rates are only available through the online booking system. MSP says prebook at least 12 hours before you travel and the space is guaranteed.
4. Use a cell-phone lot for curb pickup. LAX has two cell-phone waiting lots where motorists meeting arriving passengers can wait for free, up to two hours, until passengers are ready in the Central Terminal Area.

SFO online bookings can be changed or cancelled up to 2 hours before the booked entry time.

Cash, cards, and how long the car can stay

DFW uses contactless payment and does not accept cash. Parking at DFW Airport is limited to 90 days; vehicles parked longer are towed off-airport.

LAX accepts cash at pay-on-foot machines, plus major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and debit cards. Vehicles parked for over 30 days are subject to impound.

MSP daily ramps use the same credit or debit card to enter and exit if you do not have a reservation.
