Austin Airport Lounges (AUS): All Three, and Why Priority Pass Gets You Nothing

That last part is the thing most travellers get wrong. Austin handled over 21 million passengers in 2024 and is one of the fastest-growing airports in the country, but its lounge provision has not kept pace. If your lounge access comes from a credit card rather than an airline, check the section below before you plan on it.

The three lounges

All three are past security in the main terminal. Two of the three sell day passes at the door — Delta does not.

Opening hours run roughly from pre-dawn to mid-evening rather than around the clock, and they close earlier than you'd expect for a big airport. Both the Delta and American lounges shut in the evening, so a late departure means the lounge is not an option. Check the hours for your specific departure time rather than assuming.

If your access comes from a credit card, read this

This is where Austin catches people out.

Priority Pass has no lounge at AUS. Not a restaurant credit, not a partner space — nothing. If you carry Priority Pass through a Chase Sapphire Reserve, Capital One Venture X, Amex Platinum or similar, it does you no good in Austin.

There is no Amex Centurion Lounge and no Capital One Lounge at AUS either.

What that leaves for cardholders:

• Amex Platinum and Delta SkyMiles Reserve get you into the Delta Sky Club, subject to Delta's current rules on same-day Delta-marketed flights and annual visit caps.
• United Club Infinite and similar United co-brand cards get you into the United Club.
• AA-branded Citi and Barclays cards get you into the Admirals Club at the tiers that include it.

Everyone else is buying a day pass at American or United, or using the terminal.

What's coming

Austin's lounge situation is being rebuilt, but not quickly.

Delta has announced two new spaces totalling more than 40,000 square feet — a temporary Sky Club planned for 2026 and a permanent flagship club of roughly 35,000 square feet projected for the early 2030s.

American has begun construction on a new Admirals Club in the west gate expansion, with the existing club expected to move there around 2027. The new club is planned to include an outdoor terrace, which would be unusual for a US domestic lounge.

Neither is open now. Plan around the three lounges that exist.

The terminal problem nobody mentions

AUS has two terminals — the main Barbara Jordan Terminal and a separate South Terminal used by some ultra-low-cost carriers.

They are not connected. Not airside, not landside. Moving between them means leaving one building and travelling to the other.

Every lounge at AUS is in Barbara Jordan. If your flight departs from the South Terminal, there is no lounge available to you at any price. Confirm which terminal your airline uses when you book, not at the kerb — the South Terminal's operating status and airline roster have changed over the past few years, so check the airport's current information rather than an older guide.

Alternatives if you can't get into a lounge

Austin is genuinely well provided for on the concessions side — there are around 55 food and beverage outlets, well above what a mid-size airport usually offers, and heavily weighted toward local Austin names rather than the standard airport chains. For a two-hour wait, a table at a real restaurant is often a better experience than a crowded club.

There's also an outdoor patio area airside, which is rare and worth knowing about on a decent-weather day.

Smoking: AUS has no smoking areas inside the terminal. Smoking means exiting and re-clearing security.

Is a day pass worth it at AUS?

Day passes at the Admirals Club and United Club typically run in the region of $50–$79, and prices change — check at the desk.

The honest calculation:

• Under 90 minutes to spare — probably not. You'll spend a chunk of it walking to the mezzanine and queuing.
• Two to four hours, or a delayed flight — usually yes, especially if you need to work. Reliable power, better Wi-Fi and a quiet seat are worth more than the food.
• Travelling with children — depends heavily on the lounge's capacity that day. Austin's clubs are small for the traffic they serve and can hit capacity limits at peak times, meaning you may be turned away even with valid access.

That capacity point is worth repeating. Access is not the same as entry. At peak morning and evening banks, all three Austin lounges can and do close their doors temporarily.
