MSP Airport Map for Terminal 1: Levels, Security and Gates

Use the MSP Airport Terminal 1 map as a level-by-level route, not just a picture of the concourses. First identify whether you are departing, arriving or transferring. Then match the place you need—ticketing, baggage claim, security or a gate—to the correct level and concourse.

Open the official MSP interactive map and select Terminal 1. The Metropolitan Airports Commission also says printed maps are available at information desks. A map shows the layout; your boarding pass and the airport flight displays remain the authority for the current gate.

How to read the Terminal 1 map

1. Confirm the terminal. MSP has separate road access for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, so check the terminal before choosing driving, parking or drop-off directions.
2. Start on the correct level. For a Terminal 1 departure, go to the Ticketing Lobby on Level 2 for airline check-in and bag drop.
3. Choose a checkpoint. MSP says Terminal 1 passengers may use the North or South checkpoint on the Ticketing Level. MSP RESERVE is available only at the North Checkpoint.
4. Follow the gate code. The letter points to a concourse from A through G; the number identifies the gate. Recheck a flight display before making the full walk.
5. Use the arrival route when landing. Follow Baggage Claim signs if you need checked bags; MSP places Baggage Claim one level below ticketing.

Terminal 1 levels explained

Ticketing and bag check

MSP places every Terminal 1 airline's ticketing and bag-check service in the Level 2 Ticketing Lobby. The route from parking varies: the airport directs travelers from some ramps over a skyway, from others by an underground tram, and from the Pink and Brown ramps through the Tram Level. Follow the signs from the specific ramp where you parked instead of assuming every garage enters at the same point.

Security and the concourses

The North and South checkpoints are on the Ticketing Level. Beyond screening, use the airport map to orient toward concourses A, B, C, D, E, F or G. Do not treat an airline's usual concourse as a guaranteed gate assignment; check the live airport display and your airline's current information.

TSA sets the screening rules, while MSP publishes the local checkpoint locations and operating information. The TSA 3-1-1 rule allows a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in carry-on baggage, with containers limited to 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters per item. Baggage claim and onward travel

Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?

The Metropolitan Airports Commission currently lists Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air France, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Denver Air, Discover, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, United Airlines and WestJet at Terminal 1. Airline locations can change, so verify the terminal with MSP and the airline before leaving.

If you reach the wrong terminal, follow signs to the METRO Blue Line. MSP says no ticket is needed between the airport terminal stations and that inter-terminal service is free. Do not plan to walk along the separate airport roadways.

How early should you arrive at Terminal 1?

MSP recommends arriving two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before international travel. The airport explains that this window covers bag check, security screening and reaching the gate. Live security waits can change rapidly, so a short posted wait is not a reason to skip the airport's arrival guidance.

Save the map before you travel

Save the terminal map, boarding pass and current gate details before entering the airport. A cached map still helps you identify levels and concourse directions when mobile service is weak, but check a flight display for a gate change once you are inside.
